This was a tough weekend. First, Avicii died last Friday. Then, Verne Troyer aka Mini-Me died on Saturday at the age of 49. I’d hate myself if I didn’t give Verne a shoutout on the blog because he gave me so many laughs over the years. The Austin Powers series will forever hold a special place in my heart. I constantly use quotes from the movies. I say “Allow myself to introduce…myself,” at least once a week. Behind it all was Mini-Me, who always stole the show. Most people will point to the prison rapping scene, but I LOVED when Austin gets on Mini-Me’s shoulders as they pretend to be a sailor in Goldmember. “One of us will have to go on the other one’s shoulders.” I lose it every time .
Verne is known for Mini-Me, but where he truly shined was on his Instagram. Verne’s account was one of my favorite follows because it was impossible to not have a smile on your face while scrolling through his pictures and videos.
Cooking a turkey that’s bigger than his body? Check.
Self-aware humor is the best.
That being said, nothing, and I mean NOTHING will ever top his dunk on the toy hoop. I was in tears after I watched it. The young fella got UP!
It’s sad to see that he was struggling with depression and suicide. You never truly know what someone is going through. Thank you for always putting a smile on my face, Verne. You will truly be missed. My heart goes out to his family at this time.
