November, 28 2017 – I am embarrassed to be a New York Giants fan.
What a sad day to be a Giants fan. This is rock bottom. I’m at a loss for words. You know what? Scratch that. I have too many words to say about how this decision is the worst organizational move in over a decade. Yes, this is worse than forcing Tom Coughlin out of town, which honestly, I got over the move because it was best for both parties. I didn’t like how it happened with Coughlin because he should not have been forced to resign. He deserved to finish his contract, but that was then and this is now.
Now, Eli Manning has been benched for Geno Smith and eventually, Davis Webb. For starters, if you blame Eli Manning for this season, you haven’t been watching the games. Eli has not played well, but do you see what he’s working with? 19 players are on injured reserve. Beckham, Marshall, and Harris are hurt. Shepherd has missed 4 games. They have no running game. The offensive line can’t block. You can’t make chicken salad with chicken shit so how can you expect Eli to win games? I haven’t even mentioned the defense yet.
We know the writing was on the wall. Eli Manning had 1, maybe 2 years left as the Giants QB. He’s been the epitome of class. He helped us win 2 Super Bowls. He has started for over 200 games. Eli gets crushed every week. Takes big hit after big hit. Gets destroyed in the media on a regular basis. And yet, he shows up to work each and everyday. ELI. SHOWS. UP. That’s something that no one else on this team can say. Yet, Eli and his legacy were just shit on.
Eli Manning built this whole organization for the past decade. Everyone who has ever had a job in the Giants organization should thank Eli Manning. I’m looking at you, Jerry Reese.
This is why this decision hurts.
Eli gave his blood, sweat, and tears for this franchise. He does not deserve this. The man has won 2 Super Bowl MVPs. He’s started over 200 games straight and he gets benched…………………………………………………..
for Geno Smith.
GENO SMITH.
Not Davis Webb, but Geno Smith.
Eli Manning is a Hall of Famer. He does not deserve this disrespectful treatment. Ben McAdoo just said in his press conference that “Geno Smith gives us the best chance to win this week.” Excuse me while I destroy this computer. I’m so embarrassed right now. I do not care if Geno Smith wins every game by more than 100 points. This move is such a slap in the face to Eli. To think Ben even offered Eli the chance to start just to keep his streak in tact. Hmmm you said you were going to bench the guy, but you’re giving him the opportunity keep his streak alive by starting him for a half? Why would Eli accept that offer? Good for Eli. He should take that offer and throw it back in McAdoo’s face.
Eli, I truly wish you the best. You deserve so much better than to be disrespected by the team who you have given your everything to. I hope you go somewhere else where you have a chance to win. I seriously mean that. Escape this dumpster fire right now. However, I know you are too classy to ever speak badly about the Giants. That’s why you are best.
Thank you, Eli. Thank you.
