I am sick to my stomach. Horrible, horrible news out of Las Vegas. As of now, the reports are that a 64 year old man opened fire on the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay across the street. There are reports that more than 50 people have been killed and over 400 have been injured with that number continuing to rise as more reports come out. It has been ruled as the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history.
Concerts are a way for people to escape the problems of the real world and come together to enjoy the gift of music and celebration. No one should have to worry that anything bad will happen. However, because of this cowardly act, there are thousands of lives that will never be the same.
The videos and pictures that have come out so far will bring tears to your eyes. I truthfully do not have the answers as to how to stop events like this from happening. In tragic times like these, it’s important to remember that there are good people in the world. Thank you to the brave men and women who were first responders last night. While most people run away from danger, first responders put their lives on the line so others may live. Knowing that this bravery exists is what gives me hope for humanity.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Las Vegas and for everyone that has been affected by this awful tragedy. I think we all will be holding our loved ones a little tighter, tonight.
