Today, Adidas announced that Kanye West will be getting his own design team, along with Yeezy retail stores. The shops will be called “Adidas + KANYE WEST“.
“These past two years Adidas and Yeezy have given a glimpse into our future,” West said, via press release. “This partnership illustrates that anyone with a dream can dream without limitations.”
Adidas first launch of a Kanye West product came in February of 2015 with the Yeezy 750 Boost. The relationship has been a very successful one over the first two years as every release of the 350 (low top) Boost and 750 Boost sneaker has sold out through the Adidas app within minutes. They have released an array of colorways that fans have struggled to get their hands on. The Chicago native has promised that the sneakers will be more accessible and affordable in the past. Let’s hope this is the first step in the right direction toward that goal. No person should have to pay $1,500 for a pair of sneakers since they are sold out.
Mr. West continues to make history in the fashion world, after selling out MSG for his Yeezy Season 3 premiere. The new Adidas deal marks the biggest between an apparel brand and a non-athlete. Kanye’s influence is only growing and rivaled by nobody in the industry. Anything Kanye touches seems to turn to gold. This new deal will allow him to seize the control that he needs to make his vision come to fruition.
Congrats to Kanye and hook me up with some Yeezys!
